Esther 4:16

“Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

Esther is known for saving the Jewish People from annihilation in the biblical story of her book. She did this by risking her life to approach the Persian King Ahasuerus, whom she was secretly married to as his queen, and exposing the evil plot of the king's minister, Haman. Her actions led to the reversal of the decree and the establishment of the feast of Purim.

Becoming Queen:
Esther, an orphaned Jewish girl, was chosen from a group of beautiful virgins to be the wife of King Ahasuerus of Persia. Her guardian and cousin, Mordecai, had instructed her to hide her Jewish identity.

Facing a deadly plot:
Haman, the king's chief minister, plotted to have all the Jewish people in the empire destroyed.

Risks her life for her people:
When Mordecai urged her to act, Esther bravely went before the king without being summoned, a decision that could have led to her death.

Exposing Haman:
At a series of banquets, Esther exposed Haman's treachery to the king. The king then had Haman hanged on the gallows he had built for Mordecai.

Saving her people and establishing Purim
Esther's actions not only prevented the massacre of the Jews but also led to their ability to defend themselves on the day that had been set aside for their destruction. This event is celebrated annually as the Jewish holiday of Purim.
