 Judith 13:8-18

She then took the head out of the food bag and showed it to the people. "Here," she said, "is the head of Holofernes, the general of the Assyrian army, and here is the mosquito net from his bed, where he lay in a drunken stupor. The Lord used a woman to kill him.

The siege: The Assyrian army, led by Holofernes, besieges Bethulia, cutting off the city's water supply and creating a desperate situation for its inhabitants.

Judith's plan: When the city elders consider surrendering, Judith, a devout and courageous widow, devises a plan to save them.

Infiltration: She leaves the city with her maid, enters the Assyrian camp, and uses her beauty and charm to gain Holofernes' trust.

The assassination: Judith is invited to a banquet in Holofernes' tent. When he becomes heavily intoxicated and falls asleep, she seizes his sword and decapitates him.

The victory: Judith escapes with the severed head. When the Assyrian army discovers their leader's body, they are thrown into disarray and panic. The Israelites, emboldened by this turn of events, launch a counterattack and rout the enemy forces.
